Topics covered
This conference will focus on techniques for the delivery of the maximum volumes of clean, environmentally safe, treated waste water for amenity and agricultural purposes, using minimal energy inputs and having low maintenance requirements. It is envisaged that presentations could fit specific topics under the following headings:
- Performance of WSP
- Biology
- WSP applications for smaller communities
- WSP and sustainability issues - carbon, energy reduction - bio energy production
- Public health microbiology
- WSP case studies
- WSPs and their integration with other treatment technologies
Abstract Guidelines
- All abstracts must be submitted in English and clearly state the objectives and desired outcomes of the proposed presentation.
- Abstracts are to be submitted as a Word document - please use this template
- Maximum 2 x A4 pages of text
- Arial font, size 10
- 1 ½ line spacing
- Include the title, authors and affiliations as per the template
- Do not include references, footnotes or keywords
- Abstracts should contain brief introduction (purpose), methodology, results and conclusion together with a discussion
- The title should be clear and concise
- Select your preferred presentation type (platform, poster or either)
- You must select from the list the conference theme in which your abstract fits
- You may submit more than one abstract, however only one can be accepted for platform presentation
- Abstracts may be amended or withdrawn before 12 November 2011
- By submitting an abstract it will be assumed that all authors have consented to its submission and that all copyright provisions listed elsewhere have been met *
- Abstracts will appear in print as submitted
* The paper accepted into the Stabilisation Ponds program must not have been presented or published previously.
Selection of Presentations
The selection of papers to be presented at Stabilisation Ponds 2011 will be determined by abstract reviews appointed by the Programme Committee. And will be based on:
- Relationship and significance to the themes of the conference
- Interest in the topic especially multidisciplinary aspects
- Technical content
- Programme constraints
- Originality
- Topicality
- Potential audience appeal
All abstracts will be reviewed by at least two independent reviewers based on the criteria above before being accepted for placement in the conference programme. It will be assumed that the quality of the abstract is indicative of the standard of the final presentation. Performance by contributors at previous conferences may be taken into account in final programming.
For a paper to be accepted and presented at the conference, a paid registration (full conference or at least on the day of presentation) must be received in advance from the presenting author.
Authors must be prepared to confirm their copyright ownership of the paper, the originality of the work, that the paper has not been previously published in any other form and that the Australian Water Association will be granted permission to publish the paper. This must be confirmed at time of abstract submission.
Conditions of Presenting
For a paper to be accepted and presented at the conference:
- A paid registration (full conference or at least on the day of presentation) must be received in advance from the presenting author. The deadline for presenter registration will be March 2011. This applies to both platform and poster presenters.
- Authors must be prepared to confirm their copyright ownership of the paper, the originality of the work, that the paper has not been previously published in any other form and that the Australian Water Association will be granted permission to publish the paper. This must be confirmed at time of online abstract submission.
- A full paper needs to be submitted in July 2011
Presenters will be responsible for their own expenses. Any presenter that withdraws from participating after the program has been published will be liable to standard registration cancellation conditions.
Please do not submit an abstract if you are unable to comply with any of the above conditions.
